Uzbekistan - Central Asia - Advancing Energy Transition: Experience Exchange for Uzbekistan's Sustainable Future
Sustainable Energy Workshop and EU-related Best Practice

Overview

This highly specialised training event was organised by the Brussels Energy Club by request, as a core element of an EU study tour for a delegation of officials from the state agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbek-Energo-Inspection. This state agency, established under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, has a mandate to monitor energy consumption in Uzbekistan, with a view to promoting efficient and sustainable usage of energy in the country.

The one-day training focused on EU energy legislation and best practices in the area of designing energy efficiency policies and renewable energy promotion strategies. We provided a comprehensive overview of the entire package of legislation developed by the European institutions in these areas during the last 25-30 years, intended to reduce the EU’s dependence on fossil fuels in the promotion of the energy transition. We also looked at how the EU engages in international energy and climate diplomacy and evaluated the impact that such actions have on EU relations with partner regions, particularly with regard to Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Participation in this training seminar was by invitation only. For more information about the presentations and content of the event, please contact us at info@brusselsenergyclub.org
