Join the First Caspian Economic Forum in Turkmenistan this summer!
The Brussels Energy Club was selected by the Mission of the Turkmenistan to the EU to be a partner of its First Caspian Economic Forum to be held this summer in Turkmenistan.
This partnership comes in the very significant week for the EU-Central Asia relations. The High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini has just signed an agreement for opening the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan. That happened right after presenting the new EU-Central Asia Strategy at the 1st EU-Central Asia Forum in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. One of the Strategy's key goals is to improve the economic, social, fiscal and environmental sustainability of the region. When it comes to our area of interest, the EU will support Central Asian countries is energy and environment by „turning environmental challenges into opportunities" and "sharing know-how on renewable energy and energy efficiency".
Turkmenistan's hydrocarbon resources are estimated at over 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, that is over 20 billion tons of oil and over 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. Today, Turkmenistan holds the world"s fourth-largest proven natural gas reserves. The country still has untapped economic potential and is moving slowly to introduce economic and business reforms.
In that context, we would like to bring to your attention to the upcoming First Caspian Economic Forum, due to be held in Avaza, the national tourist zone at the Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan, during August 11-12, 2019. This will be a high-level event inclusive of the participation of very senior officials from the Caspian littoral states, investors and international organisations. The President of Turkmenistan will host the Forum. We warmly invite friends and partners of BREC to engage in cooperation with Turkmenistan in relation to the upcoming Forum.
